Layered Beginnings serves as both an entry point to the Abstraction by Design (AbD) method and a refresher for returning students.

In this two-day workshop, you will prepare multiple panels using the AbD process of layering paper and paint. Emphasis will be placed on developing textured, visually active surfaces that serve as the groundwork for abstract painting and collage.

Students will learn how to: Apply foundational layering techniques using paper and paint. Prepare panels for further composition, collaging and painting your design work.

By the end of the class, you will have a set of prepared panels ready for continued exploration and the next stage of your AbD practice.
